Originally, Scott Wood, experimented  with Microsoft Exchange 5.5, so in 2003, he registered plates55.com as the domain his server would run at.  A week later he was hosting email for his entire family!

Shortly after setting up the mail, S Wood setup the first plates.com website. The site was simple, with not a lot of news, and had links to S Wood’s FTP Server, Outlook Web Access, VPN, Telnet, Terminal Services and Printer (his printer was accessible from the Internet!).

In 2005, Scott  posted an article about how to create a bootable Windows 2000 CD with Service Pack 1 integrated. He posted a link to it a few newsgroups and forums, and soon enough that page became very popular! He met J Plates while working on a consulting project and a lifelong friendship was developed

The other contributors to this site are very passionate technical engineers some highly regarded in the it industry.
